Provides tier two support and implementation services for storage, virtualization, monitoring, and backup technologies across the enterprise
Resolves and appropriately completes assigned cases and change requests and acts as an escalation for support issues
Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with team and determines course of action for new application initiatives
Implements new software solutions as required by the business
Platform infrastructure technology duties include enterprise VMware ESX/vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and backup solution architecture management and support for enterprise-wide initiatives
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of seven years technology experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in Storage management or administration
  • Minimum of five years experience (at least 2 years in a senior position) managing or administering VMware vsphere in multi-cluster and/or multi-data center environment
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell (or other scripting/automation experience) is required
  • Experience with VMware SRM is desirable
  • Experience with HP 3par is highly desirable
  • Experience with EMC is a plus
  • Experience with Brocade switches and zoning
  • Experience with HP and Dell Servers and Direct Attached Storage
  • Experience with CommVault (or other Enterprise backup product) is desirable
  • Experience with Hyper-V and/or SCOM is a plus
  • Experience or familiarity with Linux and/or AIX is a plus
  • Process experience with ITIL and SCRUM
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
Project Activities
  • Determine application and infrastructure needs for project or initiative
  • Develop an implementation plan for all related activities, including contingency plans
  • Support business restructuring activities, including new sites and relocations either remotely or on-site as required
  • Install, configure and document new software and services as dictated by the project
  • Coordinate project activities with project managers and other team members
  • Create training materials and presentations for the support organization as needed
Infrastructure Support
  • Provide second and third level support and maintenance of the Platform supported infrastructure environment and all related technologies, including virtualization, hardware, software, and storage
  • Serve as the first line of escalation support for domain technology issues that cannot be resolved by tier one and two server support
  • Act as an on-call agent for team in specified rotation
  • Identify, diagnose and correct problems related to the operating system, software, utilities and hardware
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating system software and third party software utilities for hardware systems within company operational guidelines
  • Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps
  • Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation
  • Research new technologies for implementation across the enterprise
Request Management
  • Monitor group incident and request queues, alert notices and other work request streams for new notifications
  • Complete support incidents and change requests within pre-defined service level agreements
  • Regularly communicate status of incidents and requests with customers and key stakeholders via e-mail, phone and face-to-face as dictated by the severity and circumstances of the incident
  • Maintain updated documentation of all in-progress and completed requests in appropriate systems as required by team management
  • Appropriately escalate incidents and requests using pre-defined processes when required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Enterprise and Data Center experience (250+ servers/virtual machines)
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Networks, Fibre Channel infrastructure, Virtualization platforms and backup technologies      
  • Perspective and experience with enterprise infrastructure and technology inter-dependencies
  • Allocate/de-allocate SAN storage for servers in the Data Centers and remote locations, working with Application, Database and System administrators to determine requirements and appropriate Tier of storage
  • Maintain schedules for Enterprise backup system
  • Participate in Enterprise Storage, Virtualization and backup capacity planning and overall architecture. Assist with the tracking of actual utilization and forecasted utilization
  • Assist Application, Database and System Administrators with application/system specific disaster recovery plans and implementation and testing
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server
  • Project planning and coordination. Develop Work Plans, coordinate the activities of project resources and other related IT groups on projects
  • Strong aptitude for problem-solving and the ability to resolve complex issues while retaining a strong customer service focus with little or no assistance
  • Team player with the ability to adjust to disparate personalities and work well within a diverse organization
  • Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple high priority tasks simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
