SUMMARY
As part of our client’s (major Airline) Information Technology Enterprise Services, the Operational Data and Events team is responsible for the delivery and support of critical server-based real time backend systems to assure the fail-safe flow of data and content into client’s business applications.  They are responsible for sourcing and persisting data into Enterprise Operational Data Stores and for delivering events to application customers in almost all of client’s air lines business areas and around the globe.
 
Their team designs, builds, and supports Windows Server-based middleware applications and systems.  Real-time flight, passenger, crew and baggage data and events are provided to client’s air lines flight automation systems, management teams, and Operation Control Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The applications we support are integrated to present a unified “Enterprise View” of real-time data from multiple disparate systems, both internal and external. 
 
 
ESSENTIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Structure and lead formal and informal Innovation meetings / sessions with the rest of the Innovation team, contribute to definition of new ideas and concepts, facilitate and capture output
·         Actively build Innovation capabilities across the organization and scale processes, tools, and skills throughout the company
·         Assist in the development of training materials and the dissemination of those materials through training sessions covering the portfolio, best practices, benchmarks and thought leadership
·         Active participation in Consumer Insights and Market Research: Identify opportunities and needs for innovation projects through consumer exploration, consumer needs analysis, and new trends scouting, define size (e.g. potential revenues, margins, share involved) and feasibility of the opportunity, interact with Delta’s internal resources and external vendors, gather data and insights (qualitative, quantitative), perform comparative analysis, conduct internal / external interviews and ethnographic analysis, structure, consolidate and summarize information and data
·         Apply knowledge of business challenges, industry trends / patterns and the influence of disruptive market forces to create perspective in the area of Customer Experience
·         Perform rigorous and accurate quantitative / qualitative analyses related to market sizing, business model analysis, scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling to assess feasibility of innovation ideas
·         Craft stories based on qualitative and quantitative data, tell stories in a concise and effective way, capability to present to senior leadership in effective way
·         Ownership of competitive intelligence activities identification, SWOT analysis and ongoing monitoring
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
·         Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to understand the business need and translating that to help create and then manage innovative concepts to solve these needs
·         Comfort working in a matrixed environment. Ability to work well independently and on a closely-knit team, with varying levels of guidance and direction
·         Flexibility and organizational skills to multi-task, juggle, and re-prioritize multiple projects and stakeholder needs
·         Ability to engage with colleagues and contacts outside of the company (clients, industry experts, etc.) in an articulate, professional manner
·         Attention to detail and ability to deliver market-ready products within tight deadlines
·         Initiative to proactively solve problems and add value through client development and thought leadership
·         Strong developed project management skills required
·         Experience in software development, project leadership and business requirements gathering
·         5+ years in project management experience is preferred.
·         Experience working in an Agile environment

Essential Education
·         BA/BS degree preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
·         Strong business knowledge and understanding of airport system and software development.
·         Experience in and knowledge of related issue areas (brand, employee and product/service innovation) a plus
